Dish of the Day!

After two days at the homestead aire we booked into the nearby Camping du Parc, a lovely campsite alongside the River Mayenne and a short walk to the heart of Château-Gontier, a picturesque town Jo and Andy had recommended. With only a modest increase to €11 per night, we ended up staying for 5 days. The highlight, aside from excellent showers, was hiring bicycles and cycling 20km (each way) alongside the river towards Mayenne. Amazingly, we were just in time to grab the last available table for a plat-du-jour (dish of the day) lunch at a pretty lock-side restaurant called L’Ecluse only €12 each for a superb three-course extravaganza. (including a glass of wine!)

Our last day saw us attending to some chores, prepping the van and utilising the campsite’s washing machine for only €3. We could happily have spent a few more days there, but it was time to move on. We’d been in France for almost two weeks and had enjoyed the much-needed decompression time. With all the stresses and delays leaving the UK now a distant memory, it was time to push on and see where the road would take us next…
